De Bromhead has high hopes for Clonbanan Lad
HENRY DE BROMHEAD is looking forward to seeing his new recruit Clonbanan Lad start what he hopes will be a successful career over hurdles at Punchestown on Wednesday.
The six-year-old won two bumpers last season when trained by Michael O'Connor and showed enough behind Champagne Fever in the bumper at the Cheltenham Festival to be sent of the 4-1 second-favourite when reopposing that same rival in the bumper at the following month's Punchestown festival.
Clonbanan Lad has since joined Henry de Bromhead, who said: "He is an exciting youngster to join us having won a point-to-point and two bumpers for Michael O'Connor.
"He actually ran in the festival bumpers at Cheltenham and Punchestown, finishing mid-division behind Champagne Fever each time.
"He is working like a nice hurdler and will be interesting."
