Heavy rain forces Tipperary to abandon
THE final two days of Tipperary's three-day mini October festival have been washed out following heavy rain.
After racing on Sunday, the track abandoned Monday's fixture on the morning of racing, despite originally giving the meeting the go-ahead.
Then, later in the day, course officials accepted the course would not be fit to stage racing on Tuesday either.
Clerk of the course Paddy Graffin said: "It's the worst thing that can happen to any track.
"We had a forecast for little or no rain on Monday morning and after 4mm overnight we were able to race.
"However, the forecast changed and the heavy pulses of rain stayed in the area and we've had 5mm since making the original decision to race, with up to another 5mm forecast before 3pm."
