Haydock reveals jumps riches

HAYDOCK PARK underlined its commitment to jump racing on Tuesday by revealing that Betfair Chase day will be the richest jumps card ever staged in Britain away from Cheltenham and Aintree spring festivals.

The track, which stages its Flat highlight this Saturday in the £300,000 Betfred Sprint Cup, will have £505,000 up for grabs on November 22, an increase of more than 10% on 2007.

The Betfair Chase itself will be worth £225,000, compared to £200,000 last year, and the purse for the four-year-old handicap hurdle has gone up from £40,000 to £50,000.

Haydock managing director Dickon White said: "We are delighted to be staging such a valuable and prestigious Betfair Chase day in November.

"We are extremely grateful to Betfair fortheir continued support and their commitment to the day has enabled us to inject significant prize money into the Betfair Chase.

"One of our key objectives will be to continue to develop the North West Racing Masters, in conjunction with Aintree who host the Becher Chase on the following day, as one of the highlights of the jump racing season."
