Moment In Time strikes for Group 3 Pinnacle win

Report: Haydock, Saturday

BetVictor Royal Ascot Money Back Pinnacle Stakes (Group 3) 4y0+ fillies & mares

MOMENT IN TIME came from the rear to collar front-running German challenger Nymphea and score a narrow victory in Group 3 company.

The David Simcock-trained filly returned at 8-1. Nymphea was second at 6-1 with Ambivalent, who had proved difficult to load and did not get involved until late in the race, third at 3-1.

Moment In Time, winner of a handicap off a mark of 80 at Doncaster last month before finishing third in a Listed contest, was stepping into Group company for the first time.

She was produced perfectly by Jim Crowley inside the final furlong just as the challenge of Prussian, the 2-1 favourite, started to fade. She went on to score by a head after being pressed all the way to the line by the gallant Nymphea.

Simcock said: "She started the year rated 78 and now she has won a Group 3 race. It's remarkable. But she has always worked well and she has progressed and matured.

"We have given her a lot of time and she loves this fast ground - and she has not had it much of the time. She might go to America now as the Grade 1s and Grade 2s over there are easier."
