Punters put faith in Prodigality at Goodwood
PUNTERS are putting their faith in Prodigality again at Goodwood on Sunday as he bids to atone for his defeat as favourite in the Ladbrokes Portland Handicap last time out.
Trained by Ron Harris, Prodigality has gained just the one win this season but had finished second on his four other starts before going down by two and a quarter lengths to Doc Hay at Doncaster when sixth.
However, the form of the Portland has worked out well with the winner scoring at Listed level, the second winning a good handicap at Haydock and Mass Rally (tenth) landing the Ayr Silver Cup.
As a result, Prodigality has been cut to 5-2 (from 7-2) by Ladbrokes and William Hill for the Goodwood 3.45, while bet365 go 5-2 (from 100-30).
Over in Ireland, the Aidan O'Brien-trained Hanky Panky was been clipped to take the Listed Staffordstown Stud Stakes (2.25 Curragh).
The half-sister to Giant's Causeway has yet to win in two starts but is 7-4 (from 3) with Boylesports, 11-8 (from 17-8) with BetVictor, 13-8 (from 5-2) with bet365 and 7-4 (from 5-2) with Betfred for a race the trainer secured last year with Homecoming Queen.
