Kadyrov buys World Cup contender Green Destiny

CONTROVERSIAL owner Ramzan Kadyrov has been confirmed as the buyer of Green Destiny, who is on course for the Dubai World Cup according to new trainer Herman Brown.

Green Destiny was trained William Haggas last year, when he landed two Group 3s at York and Newbury before claiming sixth in the Qipco-sponsored Champion Stakes at Ascot on British Champions Day.

Brown said: "He arrived in the early hours of this morning so is in quarantine now and will be in our barn sometime next week.

"Obviously he is an exciting addition to our team and we hope he is a Dubai World Cup horse. That is the race we plan to aim him at and with his official rating of 119 he should get an invitation.

"We will have to see how we go with him once he finishes quarantine but we may well look at the third round of the Maktoum Challenge on Super Saturday for him as a prep. He was highly progressive last year and it would be nice to think he has not stopped improving."

Kadyrov, leader of the Chechen Republic, has enjoyed big-race successwith Gitano Hernando, who won the Group 1 Singapore Airlines International Cup in May. Green Destiny is a general 20-1 chance for the Dubai World Cup.
