Kempton ground likely to be 'better side of soft'
KAUTO STAR is likely to encounter going on the "better side of soft" when he attempts to win a fifth successive William Hill King George VI Chase at Kempton on Saturday.
Clerk of the course Barney Clifford said: "It's good to soft at the moment - 6.7 on the GoingStick for chases and 6.3 for the hurdles.
"We are forecast rain for every day this week, I'm afraid, and can expect a total accumulation of between 20mm and 25mm. The ground will ease, but it's difficult to say by how much.
"It's also forecast to be very windy and very mild, thank goodness. We'll take things day by day, but the going on Saturday could well be on the better side of soft."
