Gold can make Carlisle trip profitable for Lee
RICHARD LEE has sent Grey Gold on the long trip north to Carlisle from his Herefordshire base, and believes the novice chaser can make the journey worthwhile.
The eight-year-old was beaten seven lengths by Tetlami on his chasing debut at Huntingdon last month, and is not in the 2m novice chase (3.00) just to make up the numbers according to the trainer.
Lee, whose last two runners have both been victorious, said: "He's our only runner at Carlisle and we're not taking him all the way up there to look at the scenery. He's quite a decent horse and the track and ground will suit him. We were pleased with the way he jumped on his chasing debut at Huntingdon and he has schooled very well since."
Carlisle is the sole jumps meeting in Britain this afternoon, with the other fixture an all-weather card at Lingfield. There are two jumps meetings in Ireland at Limerick and Wexford.
