Watering continues at Aintree after breezy day

THE selective watering policy continued at Aintree on Wednesday to maintain the going on the Grand National course as mainly good to soft after another predominantly dry day on Merseyside.

Clerk of the course Andrew Tulloch left the ground unchanged as good, good to soft in places on the Midmay and hurdles tracks, and good to soft, good in places on the National course.

Tulloch said: "Nothing has really changed since yesterday and we have just been doing the final bits of watering on the National, Mildmay and hurdles courses.

"It has been a breezy day, with not a lot of sun, and the forecast for the next three days is very similar. There is a chance of a shower on Saturday, but otherwise we seem unlikely to get any other rain."

According to Aintree spokesman Nigel Payne, tickets can be purchased on the gate for most enclosures on Thursday and Friday, but Saturday's meeting is sold out.
