THE Queen's Royal Ascot winner Estimate will run at Goodwood next Thursday in the Blackrock Fillies Stakes, the 1m6f Group 3 known traditionally as the Lillie Langtry Stakes.
The Monsun filly, who was the Queen's 21st winner at the meeting when landing the Queen's Vase Stakes impressively by five lengths, has pleased trainer Sir Michael Stoute since, and racing manager John Warren confirmed she is the Queen's one definite runner among several entries.
He said: "I saw Estimate last week and she is very, very well. The Lillie Langtry is very much her target. We will possibly make a few more entries at the meeting, but we won't confirm any other runners until we've had a look at the races."
Warren dismissed a rumour that Carlton House lost a shoe in Saturday's Transformers & Rectifiers Summer Mile, a suggestion prompted by the sight of a stalls handler picking up a shoe from immediately in front of the Royal runner's stall moments after the start and the recollection of his losing one in the closing stages of last year's Investec Derby, in which he was third.
He said: "I'd heard that too, but it's not the case, although in some ways I wish it was. We are back to where we thought we were and he was just lit up. He's fine after the race, but it's too early to talk about where next."
While there was inevitably disappointment over Carlton House's eventual fourth, a possible high-level successor emerged just 24 hours later when the Richard Hannon-trained home-bred Sea Shanty finished a highly promising second in the valuable two-year-old race for newcomers.
Warren said: "We were thrilled with Sea Shanty, who is a really nice horse. We hope he might build on that and develop into a smart colt."
