Godolphin buy Delegator for undisclosed figure

DELEGATOR, runner-up in both the Stanjames.com 2,000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, has been purchased for an undisclosed sum by Godolphin.

Godolphin, who also aquired Evasive from the Cheveley Park Stud earlier in the week, are believed to have beaten off strong international competition to acquire the son of Dansili.

Formerly trained by Brian Meehan for owner/breeder Poilin Good, Delegator will be transferred to Saeed Bin Suroor's Newmarket stable.

Simon Crisford, racing manager to Godolphin, said: "Delegator is top class and were are very excited to have bought him.

"There are no plans at the moment but we will look forward to seeing him racing later in the season and next year as well."

Delegator, who won the Group 3 Banshahousestables.com Craven Stakes in April, holds entries in both the Darley July Cup at Newmarket next week and the BGC Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.
