Go Native 'back to his best' in Galway victory

TRAINER Noel Meade declared Go Native "back to his best" after the multiple Grade 1-winning hurdler demolished his rivals in a Flat race at Galway on Monday.

Go Native, having his second run back from a two-and-a-half year absence with injury, travelled in his old, powerful style under jockey Nina Carberry in a 1m6f contest before blasting clear in the straight to win by six and a half lengths from Cry For The Moon.

Before his injury, Go Native had been among the leading hurdlers in Britain and Ireland and was sent off favourite for the 2010 Champion Hurdle won by Binocular.

Meade plans to campaign the impressive winner back in top-class hurdles company with next month's Grade 1 Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown the first target.

Speaking from Newmarket, where he was attending the Tattersalls Horses-In-Training sales, Meade said: "That was very nice. He did it well and he really looks to be back to his best and it was great to watch.

"We'll look to go to Punchestown for the Morgiana Hurdle and then one of the Christmas Hurdles at Leopardstown or Kempton."

Bet365 cut Go Native to 25-1 (from 50) for the Champion Hurdle after his Galway success.
