Quest For Peace gives Cumani more glory

Report: Glorious Goodwood, Friday

Coutts Glorious Stakes (Group 3) 1m4f, 4yo+

QUEST FOR PEACE bolstered his Melbourne Cup hopes as he made all the running under Kieren Fallon to give Luca Cumani a seventh win in this Group 3.

Fallon, who was winning the race for the third time, sent the four-year-old into an immediate lead and he bossed it from the front as the field crawled through the first half of the race.

As the other riders attempted to get their mounts into contention racing down the straight, Fallon gradually wound it up from the front and never looked like being headed, winning on the 5-1 chance by a length and a quarter.

Dandino finished second with 9-4 favourite Greatwood third of the seven runners.

The winning jockey said: "Nothing wanted to go on and this lad doesn't mind bowling along.

"It is quite windy out there so it is difficult to know how quick we were going but we were allowed to dictate.

"It will be a confidence booster for him I hope."

Paddy Power cut Quest For Peace to 20-1 (from 25) for the Melbourne Cup following this win.

JEREMY NOSEDA was celebrating a second winner of the meeting after Regal Realm flew home under Ryan Moore to snatch victory in the colours of Cheveley Park Stud.

The winner, sent off a 10-1 chance got the better of French raider Sunday Nectar and Appealing.

Noseda's travelling head groom Alan Tate said: "She's a lovely filly who won a Group 3 race here last year as a two-year-old.

"Her last couple of bits of work at home showed she was coming back to form, and we were just hoping, but not confident, that she would show a bit of spark today.

"She wore cheekpieces for the first time and they just helped her concentrate a bit."
