New venue but old rivals to meet in Silver Whip

Preview: Germany, Tuesday 4pm BST

Munich: Silberne Peitsche (Group 3) 6½f, 3yo+

THE highlight of Germany's May Daycards is the "Silver Whip," which is being run for the first time at Munich but features four of the last year's field when it was staged at Cologne.

Walero (Uwe Ostmann/ Koen Clijmans) was beaten a nose in second, König Concorde (Christian Sprengel) was third, Aslana (Peter Schiergen/ Filip Minarik) was fourth and Smooth Operator (Mario and Steffi Hofer) was eighth.

Aslana, the only filly in the field, is accompanied by two stablemates - the ex-Polish Exciting Life, the choice of stable jockey Andrasch Starke, and former US sprinter Nordic Truce (Davy Bonilla).

Smooth Operator's easy win in the Belmondo-Pokal at Baden-Baden is probably the best piece of form but both heand Walero were well beaten on their seasonal debuts in a French Listed race.
