Danedream shortlisted for Horse of the Year title
Germany: Danedream, Pastorius and Novellist have been shortlisted for the 2012 German Horse of the Year title.
Danedream, winner of last year's King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes, was a runaway winner of the title in 2011 and is a near certainty to repeat the feat this time around.
Trained by Peter Schiergen, Danedream was also victorious in Germany's most prestigious race - the Grosser Preis von Baden - with Pastorius and Novellist third and fourth.
Pastorius (Mario Hofer) and Novellist (Andreas Wöhler) finished first and second in the Deutsches Derby before going on to take all-aged Group 1s.
While the shortlist was voted on by the racing press, the overall title will be decided by a public vote.
Votes can be cast up to March 17 and the winner will be announced during racing at Cologne on April 1.
Votes by e-mail (to: 2012@Galopper-des-Jahres.com) are also allowed, and various prizes, all with a racing theme, will be drawn from among all those who voted for the winner.
