Bated Breath set to bypass Caviar clash
The five-year-old ran another fine race to claim second behind Little Bridge in the King's Stand Stakes over 5f at the same track on Tuesday but his trainer said the soft ground would scupper his chances on Saturday.
Charlton, writing on his website, said: "Bated Breath will definitely not be declared for the Diamond Jubilee so sadly will not have the opportunity to take on the mighty Black Caviar until the July Cup.
"It is extremely lucky that we decided to run on Tuesday in the King's Stand Stakes as with heavy overnight rain and more expected before Saturday, the ground would certainly not have suited him."
Genki, stablemate of Bated Breath, is likely to take his place in the line-up and is available at 50-1 for the Diamond Jubilee. Bated Breath had been as short as 4-1 with Ladbrokes.
Black Caviar was among 15 runners declared for the 6f contest on Thursday morning. The Australian wondermare will break from stall 15 under jockey Luke Nolen.
