MEANDRE (Andre Fabre/Maxime Guyon) caused a bit of an upset at Saint-Cloud on Sunday when scoring as the outsider in the four-runner field while last year's Arc-winning filly Danedream finished last.

Danedream made a winning return to action in her native Germany last month but she was well below par here and failed to pick up when asked for her effort.
Meandre, the only colt in the line-up, laid down his challenge two and a half furlongs out and produced a ready turn of foot to power past long-time leader Shareta to score by a length and a half and land his second Group 1 victory.
The result prompted Boylesports to introduce the winner into their Arc market at 20-1. The same firm offer 16-1 (from 12) about Danedream and 20-1 (from 33-1) for Galikova.
Guyon said: "He felt very good today, we had a good spot on the rail behind Shareta and he showed good acceleration.

Shareta made the running from the start and the Aga Khan's four-year-old, who finished second to Danedream in the Arc, was still disputing the lead with two furlongs to go.
Danedream, who travelled in second throughout, was asked for maximum effort by jockey Andrasch Starke two and a half furlongs out but her response was limited and she was a spent force as the front two quickended clear.
Galikova, having her first run of the season, also failed to produce her best form and plugged on to finish ahead of 4-5 favourite Danedream.
