Lightening Pearl to skip Guineas Trial on Sunday
TRAINER Ger Lyons said on Friday that Cheveley Park Stakes winner Lightening Pearl will skip Sunday's 1,000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown.
Owned by Pearl Bloodstock Ltd, Lightening Pearl was due to make her seasonal reappearance in the 7f contest but her trainer has decided to give her more time.
Lyons tweeted on Friday: "It's decision time for LP today and we have decided not to run on Sunday. She's getting there slowly but not ready for a gruelling race yet."
Lightening Pearl is as short as 16-1 with Ladbrokes and Paddy Power for the Qipco 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket on May 6.
