Lightening Pearl: likely to drop back in trip on her next start says trainer

LIGHTENING PEARL will miss Sunday's Etihad Airways Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh, with trainer Ger Lyons planning to drop the filly in trip on her next start.
The daughter of Marju, who won last year's Cheveley Park Stakes, disappointed in the Qipco 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket on her seasonal debut when she finished 25 lengths behind wide-margin winner Homecoming Queen.
Lyons tweeted: "It has been decided not to run LP in IRE 1000gns. We will wait till July at York to race her again & will drop her back in trip."
Homecoming Queen and Maybe were among seven possibles for the fillies' Classic for trainer Aidan O'Brien at the latest declaration stage on Monday.
Also in the 14-runner field is last-time-out scorer Yellow Rosebud, Group 1 Phoenix Stakes winner La Collina along with the Mick Channon-trained Samitar.
Paddy Power offer 6-4 about Homecoming Queen landing a memorable Guineas double on Sunday. The same firm offer 6-4 (with a run) for Maybe and 100-30 about Yellow Rosebud.
The Tattersalls Gold Cup is headed by stablemates So You Think and St Nicholas Abbey, who form a six-strong Ballydoyle assault on the Group 1 contest.
The remaining three horses entered at the latest declarationare Famous Name, Bible Belt and Elusive Ridge.
