The dual Eclipse Awrad-winning jockey was injured on Sunday when he was unseated from one of his mounts on the path from the paddock to the track.
A specialist confirmed Gomez, 40, will need surgery to insert a plate and screws into his fractured left heel. Silver Summation, the horse involved in the accident, was uninjured.
Gomez had won six stakes races in just ten days before the incident.
