Frozen Ludlow off as cold spell continues
OFFICIALS at Ludlow have abandoned Monday's meeting as the recent spell of cold weather continues to disrupt the fixture programme.
A decision was taken before the planned 8am inspection on Sunday as temperatures dropped to as low as -10C overnight.
Clerk of the course Bob Davies said: "It went down to between -8C and -10C and the ground is frozen two inches in places. There was no chance really.
"We needed the weather forecast to be markedlywrong and the chances were very slim. It was an easy decision to make."
Davies also felt it doubtful the meeting would be rearranged.
He said: "I think it's unlikely. You have the all-weather to fill in for the betting shop action and unless it continues to affect the jumping population it would be remote."
