Free Spin fancied to prosper at Lingfield

DAVID BARRON has only had a handful of horses running on the all-weather this winter, but his select band of runners have largely performed well, and Free Spin has been backed into favouritism for the 6f handicap at Lingfield (4.10).

From 23 runners this year, Barron has had four winners, five seconds, six thirds and two fourths. All four winners have been at Wolverhampton, but Free Spin has finished second twice at Kempton for the yard since joining from Ireland, and is now a general 2-1 shot from 100-30.

The Flat season starts in Ireland this afternoon at the Curragh, and Saburo is favourite to give Jim Bolger his third consecutive winner in the 5f maiden (2.00), having landed the race last year with Dawn Approach.

However, of the seven newcomers left in the race, there has been support from Captain Moonlite, now 3-1 (from 5) for the Tommy Stack yard.
