Francesca Cumani thrilled with ITV role
FRANCESCA CUMANI, the daughter of Derby-winning trainer Luca, is relishing the opportunity to present Flat racing on British television next year after ITV confirmed her as Ed Chamberlin's co-host.
ITV has the rights to broadcast the sport for the next four years from January 1 and recently announced former Sky Sports ace Chamberlin would lead its coverage.
Speculation subsequently followed that Cumani, whose father won the Derby with Kahyasi in 1988 and High-Rise ten years later, would join him and the network on Tuesday confirmed that.
Cumani, who is married to polo player Rob Archibald, will cover up to 50 days of racing a year and has won acclaim for her work on CNN's Winning Post and Australia's Channel Seven.
She said: "I'm hugely excited to be part of ITV's new racing team and looking forward to working with Ed Chamberlin covering the Flat season from next year. To be involved in bringing viewers coverage of some of the best and most prestigious events in the sport's calendar is a privilege and I can't wait to get started."
Niall Sloane, ITV's director of sport, added: "Francesca has a superb pedigree as a racing presenter with a genuine love of the sport. Alongside Ed Chamberlin, we believe she will engage our audience in some wonderful events throughout the Flat season and we look forward to working with her."
