Tableaux adds to Coolmore options

Longchamp: Prix Noailles (Group 2) 1m2½f, 3yo colts & fillies

TABLEAUX (Andre Fabre/Maxime Guyon) showed plenty of his sire Giant's Causeway's determination after battling past the previously unbeaten Kapour to score by half a length in the colours of Coolmore partner Derrick Smith.

In doing so he paid handsome compliment to his Saint-Cloud conqueror Bravodino, who is set to lock horns with another Fabre inmate Ocavango in the Prix Greffulhe in 12 days time.

Tableaux, who was supplemented for this contest, was racing on the best ground he's encountered since finishing a promising fourth on debut to Fielden Stakes winner Intello.

But Guyon said the ground wasn't an overriding factor in the colt shedding his maiden tag at the fourth time of asking.

"It was very soft when he made his comeback at Saint-Cloud and he handled it," he said. "Understandably he was a little keen that day and he relaxed much better this time. It was a test today against a field which might not prove to be exceptional but, he passed it well enough."

Paddy Power subsequently cut Tableux to 25-1 (from 40) for the Investec Derby.

Kapour lost little in defeat having been headed at the furlong pole while Art Contemporain justified his rapid promotion a short neck away in third, having won a newcomers' race at the beginning of the month.

As a Classic trial the Noailles has most recently produced 2007 Irish Derby hero Soldier Of Fortune, while Helissio won the 1996 running en-route to Arc success.
