Little joy for Brit quintet on Deauville Polytrack
Report: France, Friday
Deauville: Prix Miss Satamixa (Listed) 7½f, AW, 4yo+ fillies
A FIVE-HORSE British cross-Channel raid - probably the first of many for 2011 given the relative strengths of British and French prize-money - brought only limited success at Deauville on Friday when Love Queen (Valerie Dissaux/Francois-Xavier Bertras) swooped late to win the featured Listed race.
Hulcote Rose (Sylvester Kirk), Akhmatova (Gerard Butler) and Amica (Gay Kelleway) finished sixth, seventh and eighth - all of them just out of the prize-money.
Most unfortunate of the British triowas Akhmatova as she was denied a clear run at a crucial moment two furlongs from home and only got going when the race was already over.
Love Queen, sent off a 102-10 chance, scored by a neck over Rada Angel.
Earlier, Kelleway won £2,845 when Layline finished third to Belle Masquee (David Smaga/Ronan Thomas) in the Prix de la Dunanerie over 1m1½f.
And she added a further £1,940 when Eastern Gift also finished third to Dream Land (Bernard Goudot/Yannick Letondeur) in the Prix de Thaon over 7½f.
>>Elaine Burke runs her twice-raced four-year-old Noverre filly, Let It Rock, in an apprentice race on the all-weather at Deauville on Saturday. Tristan Normand takes the ride in the Prix de la Perdriere (12.20pm GMT) over 7½f.
