Glory powers home in Deauville Listed thriller
Report: France, Friday
Deauville: Prix Miss Satamixa (Listed) 7½f AW, 4yo+ f&m
GLORY POWER (Jean-Marie Beguigne/Alexis Badel) swept down the stands' rail to land the feature race at Deauville, denying rank outsider Baroness by a short head.
A strong British and Irish raiding party was led home by the Paul D'Arcy-trained Night Lily, who was beaten a neck back in a dead-heat for third under IoritzMendizabal.
"The jockey said he didn't have the opportunity to get her covered up from that wide draw and that he was surprised there wasn't more pace, which she needs," said D'Arcy.
Seeharn was the most strongly fancied of the visitors, but having come to win her race she did not pick up on her first try on the all-weather.
"She just didn't handle the surface, that's the bottom line," said part-owner Anthony Stroud, who confirmed the daughter of Pivotal will now be retired to be covered by Dubawi.
Glory Power was last seen when finishing nine lengths back in second to the Jean-Claude Rouget inmate Moonwalk In Paris over course and distance in December.
Before that the daughter of Medicean had won on the all-weather at Lyon-La Soie and Le Pornichet.
