International jockeys' series at Deauville

LAST week it was the Shergar Cup at Ascot. On Saturday, Deauville hosts its little brother with the Galop Hermes Series, a three-race international jockeys' series.
A five-strong team representing France are joined by seven more from around the globe - but none from Britain, despite William Buick's being in attendance to ride in the Prix de Pomone.
Pat Smullen represents Ireland in the overseas contingent, where he is joined by Corey Brown(Australia), Andrasch Starke (Germany), Kevin Shea (South Africa), Mirco Demuro (Italy), Hiroyuki Uchida (Japan) and Bruno Reis (Brazil).

The French-based jockeys to take part are Gerald Mosse, Maxime Guyon, Stephane Pasquier, Olivier Peslier and Christophe Soumillon.
Each of the three races are worth €35,000 and the series features the fifth, sixth and seventh races on a card televised on ATR in Britain.
Each jockey will participate in two or three races and the winner will be decided according to a system of points allocated according to finishing order. Jockeys participating in all three races are awarded points for their top two finishes.
Five points will be assigned to the winner with four for the runner-up down to one point for the fifth-place finisher.
