WILLIAM BUICK may have mistimed his challenge earlier on Izzi Top, but he got it spot on in the Foret, flying home late to land the race on Gordon Lord Byron. He was chased home by Penitent as the two supplemented horses filled the first two places.
Penitent was sent on under a brilliant ride by Danny Tudhope with two furlongs to run, but Buick lined him up and shot him down, overhauling the David O'Meara-trained six-year-old and scooting clear.
It was a fantastic ride by Buick, who won the race last year on Dream Ahead, travelling strongly off a hot pace that he and the runner-up both sat close to. 33-1 shot Kendam fared best of the rest, coming from off the pace to grab third.
