Fontwell inspects on Friday with rain forecast
FONTWELL has called an 8am inspection for Friday's meeting with heavy rain forecast to fall at the track on Thursday night.
There was 9mm of rain on Wednesday night at the track and a further 9mm had fallen by 12.30pm on Thursday resulting in the going changing to soft, heavy in places.
With up to 15mm more forecast to fall on Thursdaynight, clerk of the course Ed Arkell has decided to check conditions on Friday morning.
He said: "The going has changed to soft, heavy in places after the rain which is meant to be clearing away this afternoon through to midnightwhen there could be between 10-15mm.
"With that forecast and the ground as it is we thought it best to have a look. The track is raceable at the moment and we'll just have to see how it handles the rain."
