Fontwell and Sedgefield both good to race
RACING fans will enjoy a full programme on Tuesday after both Fontwell and Sedgefield were given the go ahead following morning inspections.
Sedgefield was cleared to race at 8am after 1mm of rain fell on the track overnight and the air temperature remained above freezing.
Things were not quite as clear cut at Fontwell. With temperatures still at -2C when clerk of the course Edward Arkell was due to inspect at 8am, he took the decision to take a second look at 9am.
When the covers were removed, Arkell and his team found the ground to be raceable and with the sun out and the temperature at 0C and rising the meeting was given the go ahead.
Sedgefield's seven-race card gets underway at 12.20, while Fontwell start racing 20 minutes earlier.
There is also all-weather action at Lingfield where the first race is at midday.
