Moore hopes Dandino possesses Cup quality
RYAN MOORE is hopeful his Emirates Melbourne Cup mount Dandino has the right qualities to give the jockey a first victory in the race on Tuesday.
Moore was fifth in the race last year aboard Mount Athos, and comes into this year's race in top form following a big-race double at the Breeders' Cup on Saturday night, courtesy of Magician in the Turf and Dank in the Filly & Mare Turf.
He now heads to Australia to renew his partnership with the Marco Botti-trained six-year-old, who he won the American St Leger on in August.
Dandino has been allocated stall four for the Melbourne Cup, and Moore said: "I think he's got a nice stall."
He added: "He was impressive in the American Leger and he ran a very good trial at Caulfield."
"I don't really know what it takes to win that race just yet but he travels and he's got gears. He quickens well and shuts down as well. Hopefully he has the right attributes but for that sort of race it's very hard to work out what you need."
