Fitz odds-on after Steps To Freedom defection
REBEL FITZ is odds-on to make a winning debut over fences at Killarney on Tuesday after his main market rival Steps To Freedom was withdrawn because of the ground.
Forecast to start the 11-10 favourite, last year's Galway Hurdle winner Rebel Fitz is now around the 4-7 mark after Jessica Harrington withdrew Steps To Freedom.
Both horses have won in bumpers, over hurdles and on the Flat and Rebel Fitz's trainer Michael Winters described Killarney's contest as a "a special beginners' chase for this time of year".
Despite the defection of Steps To Freedom, the race promises to be informative and Winters added: "Our horse is in good order and has been doing everything right at home. He's matured and is more relaxed than he used to be.
"We've been planning for some time to go chasing with him and we're ready to face the music."
There is jump racing at Wincanton, Southwell and Sedgefield on Wednesday, while Flat action comes from Beverley and Chepstow.
