Zaynar back to two miles for Contenders Hurdle

ZAYNAR, favourite for the Smurfit Kappa Champion Hurdle, is set to return to the 2m trip at Sandown next month having won both of his starts over 2m4f so far this season.

The 2009 JCB Triumph Hurdle winner is unbeaten over hurdles and trainer Nicky Henderson has his eye on the Totesport-sponsored Contenders Hurdle, won last year by Celestial Halo, at Sandown on February 6.

Zaynar is outright favourite for the Champion Hurdle at 9-2 with William Hill and 3-1 with Victor Chandler but elsewhere disputing favouritism with Irish-trained hopes Go Native and Solwhit.

Henderson, who is sending reigning Champion Hurdle winner Punjabi to Ffos Las for the SIS Live Welsh Champion Hurdle on Saturday, also has last year's Cheltenham third Binocular in his stable.

Leading staying novice chaser Punchestowns, who was pulled out of Friday's Dipper Chase at Cheltenham, is being rerouted to Wincanton on Saturday for another 2m4f novice chase as the trainer desperately searches for opportunities for a whole host of his novice hopes, both over hurdles and fences.
