TRIANGULAR, ante-post favourite for Friday's John Smith's Topham Chase, was among 31 horses remaining in the race at Saturday's confirmation stage.
The most notable absentee was Grand Sefton runner-up Linnel, who had been as short as 10-1 for the race. The Arthur Moore-trained seven-year-old has been pulled-up on two starts since the Grand Sefton and holds engagements at Fairyhouse on Monday.
Triangular is a as short as 8-1 for Topham glory following his win at Newbury last month, after which trainer Tom George nominated the Grade 3 on April 13as his main target.
Edgbriar and Buffalo Bob, who runs at Haydock on Saturday, were also taken out of the 2m5½f contest run on the National course.
Always Waining, winner of the last two runnings of this race, remains in thecontest, although trainer Peter Bowen has already said he will go for next Saturday's John Smith's Grand National unless the ground turns heavy.
