Tipping Over narrowly denied big sales pot
ON THE day Born To Run made her racecourse debut at Kempton, her trainer Hugo Palmer came within a whisker of landing Fairyhouse's most valuable Flat race.
Despite a long delay due to adverse weather conditions, Tipping Over splashed her way to the front in the 7f Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sale Stakes.
She was joined in the last furlong by hot-favourite Three Sea Captains and the pair served up a battle royal, flashing past the post as one.
After much deliberation, the judge came down on the side of the David Wachman-trained favourite, who denied Palmer the €61,250 first prize by the narrowest of margins.
A not too disappointed Palmer later tweeted: "So proud of Tipping Over's game effort at Fairyhouse. Off to Tatts Ireland tomorrow to find one with a slightly longer nose for next year's race!"
Earlier Palmer had watched Born To Run, the filly the Racing post has followed since birth, finish 13th at Kempton.
