Abandoned Fairyhouse may race on Wednesday
FAIRYHOUSE has been forced to abandon Sunday's fixture due to waterlogging. The course recieved 20mm of overnight rain - more than was expected, and was found to be waterlogged on Sunday morning.
The course's management team is already considering options for the re-scheduling of the triple Grade 1 fixture, with Wednesday, December 2nd a possibility.
Caroline Gray, manager of Fairyhouse, said on Sunday morning: "We were expecting a few showers but nothing like the amount of rain we got.
"We got 12 millimetres up to 7am this morning and between then and 9.00 we had another eight to ten millimetres.
"We wil be talking with Horse Racing Ireland later today about how we might re-fix the meeting, but first we will be getting an update from the met office regarding the weather for the next few days.
"Depending on what the met office has to say, Wednesday would be a possible option as we are already scheduled to have a meeting on that day. We should be in a position to say more about the situation later today."
