Goldikova is as good as last year says Head
TRAINER Freddy Head believes Goldikova is in as good a shape as she was last year when winning the Breeders' Cup Mile, as the mare bids for an unprecedented fourth straight victory in therace.
Goldikova, who created history when winning the Grade 1 for the third time running last year, is now bidding to better herself on her last start before retirement.
Head, speaking on At The Races on Wednesday, said: "I saw her this morning and she looked remarkable. She loved the track, you would think she has been here all her life.
"The track is very good, it should be good, fast ground. I think she's as good as she was last year and she will love the track."
Goldikova's chances of success were boosted on Monday when she was allocated stall one of 13 for the race, with main market rival Strong Suit posted in stall nine.
Head added: "I think it is a good draw and she can be in a good position behind the leaders."
