Extra weight proves no problem for P'Tit Fute

Report: Leopardstown, Sunday

Pertemps Handicap Hurdle (Qualifier) 3m

P'TIT FUTE made light work of a hike in the weights when running out an impressive winner of the Pertemps Qualifier at Leopardstown on Sunday at odds of 12-1.

The Francis Flood-trained winner was running over the trip for the first time but had no problems reigning in Kasimali (9-2), who had gone clear two out, under a confident ride from Mark Walsh.

Badgerlaw (16-1) took third, with the veteran A New Story (20-1) fourth.

Following the defection of original top-weight Heavenly Blues, who was reported to be coughing, the weights for the 3m event were raised by 8lb.

Flood said: "We'll be heading to Cheltenham now he is qualified for the Pertemps. He'll also be entered for the Coral Cup.

"They went a good gallop and Mark settled him nicely. He won a bit snug in the end.

"Mark said the ground was quite chopped up on the inside so he decided to keep a little bit wide."
