Freezing overnight temperatures on Friday and Saturday prompted clerk of the course Barry Johnson to call the inspection but he sounded optimistic of racing taking place, despite the chilly forecast.

He said: "We are fully raceable today and we had 6mm of rain overnight. The downside is that it isforecast to drop -6/-7C over the next couple of nights and that obviously brings the threat of frost. We decided to call the inspection to keep everybody informed."

Exeter's six-race card is due to under way at 2pm on Sunday and the going is good to soft, soft in places.
