Just 2mm of rain fell at the track overnight meaning officials were able to scrap their 7am inspection with the track given the all-clear earlier.
The racecourse tweeted: "Due to only 2mm of rain last night - we have cancelled our inspection and we are racing!"
The seven-race card gets underway at 12.25 on ground described as heavy, soft in places.
There are five meetings in Britain on the first day of the year and two in Ireland, with Cheltenham the only victim of the recent wet weather.
Channel 4's new racing team will screen four races live from Musselburgh.
