Excitement for Don Cossack hurdling debut

NAVAN got the go-ahead to race and while the feature races are the Troytown Handicap Chase and Monksland Novice Hurdle plenty of eyes will be on Don Cossack, who makes his debut over hurdles.

The three-time bumper winner, favourite for the William Hill Supreme Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, is generally 1-3 to make his first start over hurdles a winning one.

His trainer Gordon Elliott (@gelliott_racing) tweeted this morning: "Excellent news that Navan is on as I have many runners including the very exciting Don Cossack in the 1.25."

At The Races presenter Matt Chapman (@MCYeeehaaa) shared Elliott's view, posting: "In my opinion the most exciting young horse in Ireland, Don Cossack, trained by @gelliott_racing, makes his hurdles debut today. Yeeehaaa!"

Three horses - Orpheus Valley, Romanesco and Tofino Bay - are vying for favouritism in the Troytown and Ladbrokes have the trio at 7-1.
