Williams decides against appealing Ffos Las fine
TRAINER Evan Williams on Tuesday night ruled out an appeal to the BHA over a £3,000 fine he incurred for the running of Whatdoyoucallit at Ffos Las on Monday.
Evan Williams: hit with £3,000 fine
PICTURE: Edward WhitakerDonal Fahy, who rode the 50-1 shot, was banned for14 days after guiding Whatdoyoucallit into sixth place in the Barry Waters Catering Novices' Hurdle, a run the stewards at Ffos Las deemed to have constituted schooling and conditioning in public.
An appeal appeared to have some grounds for Williams when Whatdoyoucallit was reported by the racecourse vet to have finished lame, although Fahy did not report that to stewards.
"After viewing the video of the race a number of times I've decided against appealing," said Williams.
"I understand the difficulties the stewards have in these situations and I didn't want to waste people's time in London."
Whatdoyoucallit, who was making his debut, is banned from running for 40 days from Thursday. Fahy's suspension runs from March 22 to April 4.
