Mickdaam back on target for Derby after scare
THE Richard Fahey-trained Mickdaam is back on target for Saturday's Investec Derby despite a scare with a hock infection since his win in the Chester Vase.
The trainer reported that Paul Hanagan's mount had pleased in a work session on Saturday. "We'll keep an eye on him during the week and monitor how things go but he seems fine and the plan is to run in the Derby," he told racingpost.com on Sunday.
A top-priced 40-1, but generally 33-1, Mickdaam came into the Derby reckoning when holding off Model Pupil by a nose in the Chester Vase, for which the ground was soft.
