Ayr calls inspection for Tuesday's fixture
AYR will inspect at 7.15am on Tuesday for racing on the same afternoon due to the threat of heavy overnight rain, with high winds also forecast.
Going at the track for Monday's meeting was described as heavy, soft in places after a dry night, which meant an inspection on Monday morning was passed without any problems.
Clerk of the course Emma Marley said after racing on Monday: There is ten millimetres of rain forecast overnight and walking the track I would hope that we could take that. But high winds are forecast too."
A Met Office spokesman confirmed that strong winds from the west are forecast for Tuesday morning. He said: "There will be heavy rain from around midnight, then clearing away by four o'clock. The wind picks up in the morning when it comes from the west with gusts between sixty and seventy miles per hour, perhaps even eighty. It will stay very windy all day."
