on Knight continues
BETTING on the handicaps at Royal Ascot hotted up on Monday, despite the cool weather casting a cloud over running plans, with uncertainty in the air over running plans.

In the Royal Hunt Cup next Wednesday, Dimension replaced stablemate Primaeval, who appears bound for the Buckingham Palace Handicap instead, as favourite for the race but several others had their price cut too.
These included Captain Bertie (12-1 from 14 with a few firms), Edinburgh Knight (also into 12-1 with Boylesports, from 14), and Bridgefield (25-1 from 33 with Coral).
Edinburgh Knight had been available at 20-1 on Saturday but there has since been a steady flow of money for the Paul d'Arcy-trained Lincoln fourth, who has not been out since that highly encouraging effort at Doncaster in March.
The trainer told the Racing Post: "I'm not surprised people have been backing him as he worked well on Saturday and is good value at around 16-1, which you can still get.
"The only drawback could be the ground as we'd like it good, good to firm, whereas it probably will be good, good to soft."
Clive Cox: Ascot runner wants rain
PICTURE: Edward WhitakerRain, however, is what Clive Cox would like for Winter's Night, whose entry in the same day's Windsor Forest Stakes is being given more consideration with each drop of rain.
"She's in at Royal Ascot and is also entered in a Listed race at York at the weekend," he told At The Races.
"She pulled a shoe off in Ireland last time, which didn't help her performance.
"She finished second first time out this year and I hope she's not far off making a successful return to Listed company.
"It would be a big step up in Ascot, but if the rain keeps coming I'm pleased that we're well covered with entries."
In other betting moves on Monday, Cristoforo Colombo is now second favourite for the Coventry Stakes on Tuesday with Coral, who cut him to 9-2 (from 5-1), and should favourite Dawn Approach head for the Chesham instead, as is the plan, Cristoforo Colombo would be in line to head the market.
In the Diamond Jubilee Stakes next Saturday, favourite Black Caviar's price continues to come under pressure, and it could be that the 2-5 still available with bet365 and Ladbrokes disappears on Tuesday. French filly Moonlight Cloud is second favourite and was also trimmed on Monday, into 8-1 (from 10) by Blue Square, while Betfred go 10-1 having been 14s.
