Setback rules Snow Fairy out of Royal Ascot
SUPERMARE Snow Fairy will miss Royal Ascot after trainer Ed Dunlop reported on Tuesday that the six-time Group 1 winner had suffered a minor setback.
The Cristina Patino-owned star was expected to return from her latest injury in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes on Wednesday week and her absence has led to favourite Al Kazeem hardening to 7-4 (from 9-4) with most bookmakers.
A statement on Dunlop’s website read: “Unfortunately Snow Fairy has suffered a minor setback, which means she will be on the easy list for a couple of weeks and will sadly miss Royal Ascot."
Snow Fairy, who had been a 3-1 shot for the Group 1 over 1m2f, has been off the track since winning the Red Mills Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown last September but pleased her trainer in a workout at Sandown last Thursday.
The Prince Of Wales’s Stakes was shaping up to be one of the races of the meeting and there is still ample quality with Camelot, Maxios and possibly The Fugue leading the opposition to Al Kazeem.
