Hills hoping to down
Hannon in Tattersall
ATTENTION turns to Newmarket on Thursday with day one of the Betfred Cambridgeshire meeting getting under way with Group 3 Sommerville Tattersall Stakes the highlight.
Champion trainer Richard Hannon holds a typically strong hand in this juvenile contest with favourite Havana Gold and Glean chasing a third winner in the last four year's for the trainer.
Their chief rival looks to be Ebn Arab from the Charlie Hills stable. Hills is seeking his first success in a race that has been won recently by his father Barry and brothers John and Michael.
He said: "He's a big horse who is growing and the ground was a tad quick at York. He's shown some ability and we're looking forward to it."
On an intriguing card at Newmarket, there are also two Listed contests while the meeting opens with a 1m two-year-old maiden featuring the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Telescope, a recent eyecatcher in the Racing Post's two-year-olds to follow list.
Racing also comes from Pontefract, Perth, Dundalk and Wolverhampton on a busy day.
Thursday going:
Newmarket: Good
Pontefract: Soft, heavy in places
Perth: Good, good to soft in back straight
Dundalk: Standard
Wolverhampton: Standard
