Sharestan storms to success for Godolphin
Report: Meydan, Thursday

SHARESTAN, making his debut for Godolphin, showcased his credentials for the big prizes at this year's Dubai World Cup Carnival with a classy performance at Meydan on Thursday.
Formerly trained by John Oxx for the Aga Khan, Sharestan switched to the care of Saeed Bin Suroor over the winter and had little trouble beating his eight rivals in a conditions race over the same trip as the Dubai Duty Free on World Cup night in March.
Ridden by Silvestre de Sousa, who had won the previous race on the Bin Suroor-trained Royal Empire, the five-year-old quickened brilliantly to see off So Beautiful and Rerouted.
An impressed De Sousa, who hopes Sharestan will be able to win more races at Meydan this spring, said: "It was pleasing the way he did it and he did it with a bit in hand. I look forward to riding him again and he should improve from that."
Bin Suroor, who plans to run his winner in the Group 2 Al Rashidiya on January 31, added: "Sharestan is a horse I like and I think he will be all right in bigger races.
"He needed this outing and will improve for it."
