Centennial to miss St Leger
CENTENNIAL, as short as 5-1 for Saturday's St Leger, will not be supplemented for the Ladbrokes-sponsored Classic at Doncaster, it was revealed on Monday morning.
Instead the Great Voligeur winner could run in Prix Niel at Longchamp this weekend.
The decision means the colt's trainer John Gosden, who is in Keeneland, will not be represented in the final Classic of the season which he won last year with Lucarno. It has also left stable jockey Jimmy Fortune without a a big-race mount.
Gosden's secretary, Peter Shoemark, said: "I spoke to the boss last night and Centennial is not going to be supplemented for the St Leger. He's entered in the Prix Niel on Sunday and we're going to look at that one."
Gosden recorded his first British Classic success in the St Leger with Shantou twelve years ago.
