THE going at Doncaster remained good to firm on Sunday but conditions could ease from as early as Monday when rain is forecast at the track.
The four-day St Leger festival starts on Wednesday and officials are anticipating a significant going change before the start of racing if the forecast rain materialises.
Clerk of the course David Williams said: "We are in for a huge amount of rain from Monday night. It could still be raining at lunchtime Tuesday and could leave anything up to 25mm of rain. There are four forecasts saying that.
"The ground is good to firm. We watered last week to maintain good to firm and keep the grass growing. The forecast after Tuesday is pretty much for sunshine and showers throughout the week. We are forecast up to 5mm on Wednesdayand then showers.
"The course is going to take a fair amount of rain because we have had pretty much a drought here, but it more than likely will change the ground significantly if we did have that amount."
